Rachel Barr is a qualified acupuncture and massage therapist. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK's main regulatory body for the safe practice of traditional acupuncture. She has been working within the complementary health arena since 2004 and has practised at a variety of complementary therapy clinics, including Oeuf Therapy Rooms, a specialist women's health clinic. She regularly updates her knowledge through continual professional development.

Rachel has studied in the UK, at the prestigious College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, where she received a BSc in Acupuncture. She has also attended post graduate training in Chengdu, China, at one of the best Traditional Chinese Medical teaching hospitals, Sichuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Additionally, she has trained in Berkeley, California at the specialist college, The Acupressure Institute. This wealth of international experience is adopted across her treatments.

Many 'modern day' health problems stem from a mixture of physical, mental and emotional imbalances. Acupuncture and Chinese medical philosophy recognises the role of emotion, environment, diet, lifestyle, family history (genetics) and mental state in wellbeing. Rachel utilises the wisdom of Chinese medical philosophy to provide insightful and holistic treatments, incorporating lifestyle and dietary advice, to further enhance treatment and to help all aspects of a patient's wellbeing and lifestyle. Rachel practises both Constitutional Five Element and TCM styles of acupuncture to address individual issues within a holistic approach.

Rachel is passionate about holistic and complementary therapy and believes it plays an important role in health as a sole treatment or as a complement to conventional therapy. Acupuncture and massage offer a drug-free approach.

As a general practitioner, Rachel treats a broad range of conditions. She firmly believes in preventative medicine and the important place acupuncture has within this type of health program. She has a specialist interest in women's health, pregnancy and fertility. Also pain management and stress related disorders.

Rachel's approach is gentle and effective. She is dedicated to patient care and wellbeing, and uses ultra fine needles for patient comfort. Call or email Rachel to learn more about her treatments and how they could help you.

The bird in Rachel's logo is a crane. The crane in Chinese art represents longevity and wisdom. It is also a symbol of luck.
